1,000 Things

I would like to find a nice way to unwind
Take off my hat and prepare for something
And wouldn't it be nice if I could put a price
On my wrist and sell it at an auction
And wouldn't it be grand, if I had a plan
Any plan at all I don't care what it concerns
I think constantly, so incessantly
Of how to free myself

Maybe paint a picture of nothing at all
Maybe write a letter to an old friend
Maybe do a thousand things I've never done before

Wouldn't alchemy be a good hobby
But making gold has no fringe benefits
Only teddy grahams know how I am
Don't give me the strength I don't long for
A new microphone, perhaps a megaphone
To make me sound better than ever
How about another day, so that I might say
How happy I am
